John MacInnes Memorial Scholarship
Purpose:
To honor those outstanding men & women who have devoted their time & efforts to the musical organizations at Michigan Tech.
History:
The scholarship is named after John J. MacInnes (1925-1983) who coached the Michigan Tech Varsity Ice Hockey team from the 1956-57 season to 1981-82 season. While coaching he compiled a record of 555-295-39 which makes him the winningest coach in college history, in addition he also led Tech to 3 NCAA Division I titles and was named NCAA coach of the year 2 times.
Criteria:
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Must be a 2nd year student or higher.
- At least one year of participation in a Michigan Tech musical group.
- Cannot be a Brother of Mu Beta Psi.
- Must currently be in a Michigan Tech musical organization
- Must stay in a Michigan Tech musical organization the year after recieving this award.
- Have not already earned the John MacInnes Memorial Scholarship.
Amount:
One $250 Scholarship awarded each spring semester paid to student's
MTU account the following fall.
